ABOUT
Debra Skyler is a Brooklyn-based abstract artist, known for her striking interplay of lines, shapes, and spaces. Currently based in DUMBO, she continues to evolve her studio practice. For over thirty years, she has also been a dedicated jewelry designer. However, during the pandemic, when jewelry production came to a halt, Debra turned to creating two-dimensional works artwork from her home. This period of reflection and creation led to the development of her current series, Orbs of Celestial Colors.
Drawing inspiration from her experience as a yoga teacher, Debra's work is deeply influenced by sacred geometry, mandalas, and the symbolic world. Her geometric compositions, rendered on textured watercolor paper, invite viewers to explore the delicate balance between chaos and harmony. Recently, her artistic expression has expanded to include intricate floral designs, and she occasionally experiments with photography, capturing images that fuel her creative vision.
At the core of Debra’s work is a desire to inspire others to align mind, body, and spirit in harmonious balance.
